Yellow Belt Challenge on TRTWorld
TRTWorld visited Hackney Judo Club recently to speak to coaches and participants about the Yellow Belt Challenge including Johnnie Grant who was recently featured on the British Judo website.
The Yellow Belt Challenge is a programme within the Fighting Chance Project which works with grass roots community judo clubs to engage young people with disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds between 11-25 years old.
Each young person that signs up receives an information pack which gives them an overview of the Yellow Belt Challenge along with the below:
- One FREE judo session
- 12 months FREE membership to British Judo
- FREE gradings up to yellow belt (up to 4)
- One FREE judo suit
There is no charge for clubs to becoming a Fighting Chance club, just the commitment to engage young people and fully integrate them into the club.
The Fighting Chance Project believes that by introducing a young person to the positive activity of judo, they meet new friends, learn new skills, and earn grades. and build greater levels of confidence to go on and achieve greater levels of success in other aspects of their young lives.
