World Judo Day 2022: Inclusion, Uniting the Judo Family
As part of World Judo Day, British Judo are sharing the achievements and stories of those who are driving inclusion forward in the sport of judo.
Hamilton Judo Club have been recognised for their extensive work around inclusion in their club environment, currently the Club have 30 young people who attend the Junior Disability/ASN session and 10 Students who attend the senior Disability/ASN session. The club offers a variety of pathways and programmes that are specifically adapted to facilitate progression for those that take part in the clubās disability/ASN sessions.
Recently Hamilton Judo Club received the prestigious award as the Scottish Disability Sport Club of the year 2022 after being nominated by the South Lanarkshire Disability Sport branch who stated, āInclusion is at the forefront of everything Hamilton Judo Club doā. The club also received a Motion in Parliament by Monica Lennon MSP for Recognition of the Achievements of Hamilton Judo Club.
The trophy was presented to John Kane 5th dan from Hamilton Judo Club by Stewart Harris CEO of SportScotland and Toni Shaw Paralympic and Commonwealth Games swimmer.
John shared his pleasure in receiving the award on behalf of Hamilton Judo.

British Judo wish to extend their congratulations to Hamilton Judo Club on receiving Scottish Disability Sport Club of the Year 2022, a fantastic achievement for the club which recognises the hard work and commitment to inclusion in the sport of judo.
