Vale Judo celebrates 10th anniversary with visit from BJA’s Kerrith Brown
Last weekend was special for all members of Vale Judo Club who travelled from Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland to help the club celebrate its 10 year anniversary on Saturday 28 September.
The club celebrated its 10 year anniversary as well as the launch of ten satellite clubs in style with coaching sessions run throughout the morning by Kerrith Brown, renowned international competitor and Chairman of the British Judo Association.
Over 120 junior and senior members joined in the celebrations.
“It was a delight to see so many club members from our satellite clubs join in the celebration. The club was very grateful that Kerrith celebrated with us,” Mike Newton, Senior Coach at Vale Judo and Leicester University Judo Club, said.
The mat sessions were great fun and the kids and adults learnt a lot”.
Vale became a member of the British Judo Association in 2003 and has since rapidly grown to become the largest and one of the most successful judo clubs in the country, winning a British Judo Club of the Year award in the past.
It offers recreational and competitive judo classes for all ages as well as helping develop the next generation of judo officials, coaches and referees.
Now Vale Judo runs classes throughout the East and East Midlands including the following locations: Bingham, Oakham, Spalding, Deeping, Grantham, Bourne, Loughborough, Oakham, Stamford, Uppingham.
