The Power of Commitment – Make your pledge

Today marks the final day of the 2022 National Inclusion Week. Since its beginnings in 2012, the week has grown to become a recognised event that unites organisations and individuals from all over the world in learning about and celebrating inclusive culture.

Over the past week, British Judo has highlighted the #PowerOfNow through various focus areas:

Last year when we marked National Inclusion Week, we focused on raising awareness and engagement. Following this year’s celebration of National Inclusion Week, we want to turn the attention into action by following the concluding day’s theme – The Power of Commitment – Make your pledge.

The British Judo Association offer a variety of opportunities for individuals to make their pledge and make a difference within the judo community.

Recently, the British Judo Association announced that Club Welfare Officers (CWO) are to be a mandatory role for Clubs. CWOs are an integral part judoka safety and welfare and the role provides a great opportunity for individuals to make a positive difference within their club. Full details on how you can become a Club Welfare Officer can be found here.

Today’s theme also provides the perfect opportunity for those to make a pledge in judo, whether that be taking up judo for the first time, entering a competition or taking out a British Judo Membership.

British Judo welcomes all who are interested in judo and can ensure that all members are: insured, supported and rewarded. New members can now take out a full membership online at www.bjadojo.co.uk.

If you’re new to judo and you’re looking for a club to try out the sport, you can see all your nearest clubs by using our club finder tool below.

As National Inclusion Week comes to an end, Britsh Judo is following the daily action of making their pledge by continuing to raise awareness and support equality, diversity and inclusion campaigns.

Saturday 1st October marks the first day of celebrating Black History Month. British Judo will be celebrating and highlighting the success of British judoka throughout the month and will continue to encourage the judo community to make their pledge in supporting British Judo and National equality, diversity and inclusion campaigns.

As Black History Month begins, Inclusive Employers focus on race-inclusive practices, and the resources available enable workplaces to actively contribute to anti-racism.
