Terry Adams Obituary

It is with great sadness that British Judo reports the passing of Terry Adams, a highly respected and well loved judoka and coach with over 50 years in the sport.

Born in 1935 the 6th Dan was a life member of the BJA and was known as a big character within judo. The experienced judoka was involved with and ran a number of clubs throughout his life including Romford and Hornchurch Judo Club, Rush Green Judo Club and Wickford Judo Ryu.

Terry did National Service in the King’s Royal Rifles and boxed for the Army as well. He continued his association with the Armed Forces when he coached the Royal Marines Judo team for a week every year at their base in Devon alongside the late Cliff Barker-Brown and Dave Starbrook.

He was also involved in various coaching alongside the late, great Roy Inman OBE.
