British Judo is pleased to report that referee James McBeath has been successful in passing his Continental Referee / IJF B examination, joining a select group of nine British referees currently active at this level.
James was promoted following a theory and practical examination conducted over three days by the European Judo Union at the Prague Junior European Cup this past weekend. He was presented with his ‘blue badge’ by EJU Refereeing Director Alexandr Jatskevitch and EJU Head Referee Commissioner Franky DeMoor.
James’ promotion strengthens our refereeing team in Great Britain, and in Scotland particularly where James continues to focus on the development of Scottish referees. James’ commitment to refereeing has been a long one, he first gained his National C back in 2009.
Bill Taggart, BJA Director and National Refereeing Commission Chairman said:
“I’m delighted that James has passed his IJF Continental exam. I’ve seen firsthand the effort James put in to produce this success – he has done himself, JudoScotland and British Judo proud.”
