Six of our athletes are ready to take on the World

The forth edition of the World Masters will take place in Rabat, Morocco throughout the upcoming weekend. The tournament is part of the Olympic qualification race, however only the top 16 of the World ranking lists are eligible to compete at this prestigious event. In previous attempts, with a smaller crew, British Judo earned two bronze medals by Euan Burton (2011,2012) and a fifth place by Karina Bryant (2012). This year’s chances are tripled as six of our elite athletes are ready to take on the World during the weekend in the Palace of Sport Arena.

Starting from tomorrow, European bronze medallist (2013), Ashley McKenzie will be competing in the -60kg category and he will face Ilgar Mushkiyev (AZE) in the first round. Meanwhile, a category above, Baku Grand Slam silver medallist (2015), Colin Oates will be up against Sugoi Uriarte (ESP). Winning the Croatian Grand Prix and a Baku Grand Slam silver medal few weeks ago was enough for Nekoda Davis to book her spot in the world elite group of the -57kg category. She will have Sumiya Dorjsuren (MGL) as her first battle. Dusseldorf Grand Prix winner (2015) and Baku Grand Slam bronze medalist (2015), Alice Schlesinger will be challenging the -63kg category with having Martyna Trajdos (GER) as her first contest.

On the second day of the tournament we will see actions from Sally Conway (-70kg) and Natalie Powell (-78kg). The tournaments starts at 10:00am (GMT).
