Adam Conroy of the University of Bath took the top result for British Universities with a silver medal at the European University Judo Championships.

The 3rd annual European University Judo Championships took place in Reims, France. The championships are governed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), where players compete for their Universities.

19 nations with representatives from 90 Universities and 160 competitors battled for medals in the René Tys Sports complex between 7th-11th October 2015.

Adam Conroy was the star of the show for the British Universities, finishing with a silver medal after defeating Marcel Haupt (GER) and Iokin Sagarzazu (ESP) before losing to Antoine Bidault (FRA) in the final.

Mateja Glusac competing for Anglia Ruskin University was also in the medals, picking up a bronze in the -90kg category. After losing out in his first contest, Mateja stormed through repechage with three wins by ippon against opponents, Maxime Lambert, Daniel Martinez and Maxence Montet.

Other stand-out performances came from Julia Scardone representing the University of East London who took a fifth place in the -52kg category, and Sarah Hill representing Edinburgh University who took a fifth place in the -70kg category.

Seventh places went to Liam Ashton-Farr (Wolverhampton University) in the -73kg category and Emma Reid (Coventry University) in the +78kg category, while Alison Wilson (University of Aberdeen) finished in 5th place in the -78kg category. Also representing their Universities in Reims were Harkirat Sekhon (Wolverhampton University), Chloe Robyns-Landricombe (University of Bath), Heather Goodman (University of Durham), Peter Miles (University of Oxford), Matthew Kavanagh (Anglia Ruskin University) and Mihhail Selivanov (University of Strathclyde).

Coaching and leading the team of players were Chris Doherty and Sandra Klinger.
