Russians get ready to rumble at Tonbridge Camp
C2 Judo Events is looking forward to hosting the sixth Tonbridge International Judo Camp, from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 December.
The camp is for players from the age of 14 years and upwards and takes place in the grounds of the prestigious Tonbridge School in the heart of the Kent countryside.
Organisers are expecting this year’s event to be even more popular than previous years and it has already attracted a huge international interest.
The camp will be coached by Chris Bowles, 6th Dan, Moscow Olympian 1980, European Silver Medallist and Double British Open Champion and Carl Finney 4th Dan, Double Commonwealth Gold Medallist, Double British Open Champion.
Last year former world and European title holder Georgii Zantaraia was the guest coach.
The training this year will be headlined by the Russian u23 National team together with teams from Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Austria and Norway to name but a few.
This year the camp has also had enquiries from the national coach of America, as well as teams from Bulgaria, Romania and Italy. They are also waiting for confirmation on a team from Japan.
This will be an excellent training opportunity for all squad members who would like to self-fund as the aim of the camp is to provide around 100 randori sessions over its duration, providing preparation for the New Year.
Some of those who have trialled the course include Craig Fallon, former World Champion. He said: “The camp was outstanding, the atmosphere was great and it is just what the British players need.”
Jeurgen Klinger added: “It was a fantastic camp with a great atmosphere and a lot of good randori. British Judo can be proud to have a camp like this in the country.”
The complete package is available for BJA National Squad Members for a reduced price of £180 including food and accommodation, £199 for non BJA squad members, securable by a £50 deposit.
Day places and sessional places are also available from £25 or £60 for the weekend.
Book your place on the camp through Carl Finney at carl.finney@blueyonder.co.uk or carl@judoeducation.co.uk.
Places are limited and available on a first come-first-served basis.
