Over 550 judoka ready for British Championships weekend

This weekend (5-6th December) sees action from the Cadets and Pre-Cadets who will be vying for the title of British Champion at the English Institute for Sport (EIS) in Sheffield.

555 judoka will travel from across the UK for this weekends British Championships, representing 206 judo clubs.

Cadet Boys

220 judoka representing 116 clubs will battle it out on the tatami in seven weight categories in the Cadet Boys competition on Saturday (5th December). It will be a busy day for the Gateshead and Pinewood Judo Clubs coaches as the clubs are the most represented clubs in the competition with seven players a peice. A further five clubs are represented by six players.

The -66kg category is the largest category, featuring 46 entrants. The +90kg and -42kg categories are the only categories to feature fewer than ten entrants with hot competition for medals across the board.

Pre-Cadet Girls

The Pre-Cadet Girls competition will take place on Saturday (5th December) and will see 67 competitors looking for medals. Sportif Judo Club stands as the most represented club, with five players, while Newburn, Vale and Micklefield are represented by three players each.

The -48kg is the largest category with 15 players, while the -32kg category will see a battle for gold between two competitors.

Cadet Girls

118 judoka will be striving to reach the medal rostrum on Sunday (6th December). 78 clubs are represented across the seven weight categories, with Sportif Judo Club again the most represented club amongst the Cadet Girls.

The -63kg and -48kg are the largest categories with 21 players in each.

Pre-Cadet Boys

150 competitors will be in search of the British Champion title and gold medal in the Pre-Cadet Boys competition on Sunday (6th December). The judoka represent 85 clubs from across the UK, with Sportif Judo Club, Pinewood Judo Club and Devizes Budo Club each with six players in competition.

The -42kg category is the largest category with 28 entrant, just one higher than the -38kg and -46kg categories.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome throughout the weekend. Tickets are available at EIS, Sheffield from 07:30 during the event weekend (5th and 6th Dec 2015).

Adult Day Ticket: £10 / Concession (under 16’s and OAP’s) Day Ticket: £5

Adult Weekend Ticket: £15 / Concession (under 16’s and OAP’s) Weekend Ticket: £7.50
