Olympian Colin Oates to open revamped Horncastle Judo Club

Olympian Colin Oates will officially open the newly revamped Horncastle Judo Club club over an open weekend (21 and 22 September) which will showcased their work to provide activities for young people in Lincolnshire.

The club set up a group of trustees who put together a bid to Lincolnshire County Council to provide youth provision and activities for young people and won £10,000 of funding.

Horncastle Judo, established for three years, working closely with nearby RAF bases as well as the local community, was based in a very old builiding. Now the money was re-invested it into the dojo and other multi-sport facilities and after all of their efforts, the final plans can be unveiled.

The site has ample facilities with a five-a-side football pitch and other multi-sport activities including a large dojo area for judo.

Olympian Colin Oates will officially open the new club for business by hosting four sessions, each one one and a half hours for juniors and seniors in the morning and afternoon.

The 30-year-old is a hero for many youngsters and adults alike following his World Championships experience where he beat the current Olympic Champion and a twice-world champion. He came 7th himself at London 2012.

It costs £7 per person and anyone wishing to attend is asked to book in advance. Find out more at http://www.horncastlejudoclub
