Newquay set to stage the 2012 Police Sport UK Judo National Championships in September

The highly-anticipated Police Sport UK (PSUK) National Judo Championships will take place from 14-16 September at Newquay Sports Centre.

Last year’s event featured 25 forces with 113 entries and the 2012 instalment promises to be the most popular yet as masters and kyu grades once again eye national glory.

Among the highly-talented Police squad ranks are reigning Commonwealth Masters Champions Lee Holley and John Ellis as well as Jason Moore, Derek McCutcheon and Freddy Itoise who all took silver.

Other such dinguished names who have represented the squad include former European silver medallist and Athens Olympian Rachel Wilding, former British champion Sam Delahay, one-time junior standout Stuart Harris, 2002 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Gary Cole and reigning English Open champion Kate Harris.

Reigning Police Sport UK Masters champion and Team Manager Andy Moss said: “We’re expected another strong event year this and encourage everyone to complete their entries early.”

All serving and retired officers, specials, PCSO’s and police staff are eligible to compete. Entry forms will be sent out via email shortly.
