New Matside Magazine – Issue 36 now available!

The latest issue (36) of Matside Magazine is now available exclusively on the new Matside App. The app, which is available free of charge to British Judo members, launched on on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon Kindle Fire earlier this week.

Issue 36 features Visually Impaired judoka, Sam Ingram, who spoke exclusively to Matside on his journey to the Rio 2016 Paralympics. Representing Great Britain for over a decade, Sam speaks on his desire to eclipse all of his previous accomplishments to wear Paralympic gold next summer.

The magazine also features three technique guides; Mune-gatame, turnover into Osa-komi with ne-waza expert Steve Gawthorpe 7th Dan, as well as former World Champion, Tomoko Fukumi’s version of Yoko-tomoe-nage.

Kettering Premier Judo’s Head Coach, Richard Hull, talks to us about his story at the club, coaching career and developing the club.

Junior European Champion and Junior World bronze medallist, Lucy Renshall speaks on her junior career and moving forward to the senior ranks.

Euan Burton returns for his second issue as Consultant Editor, alongside more insight from Kate Howey on Olympic qualification. There is also a special feature on new book ‘Because of Judo’ by Richard Goulding, including a special set of images from the book itself.

New British Judo Mascot, Jimmy the Judo Lion makes his first appearance in Matside, with the first of a new series of cartoons.

The magazine also features a tournament review of the 2015 Glasgow European Judo Open, latest judo news, all the latest Dan gradings, judoka in focus (Stan Cantrill) and a look back to the classic contest between Gemma Gibbons and Audrey Tcheumeo at London 2012.
