National inclusion training day set to return

British Judo’s National Inclusion Day was one of the standout events of the year in 2015, a repeat of which is now confirmed for the Saturday 6th February 2016.

The day brings together judo players with disabilities from across the UK for a national training session alongside educational sessions for coaches.

Players will be joined on the mat by British Judo Chairman, Ronnie Saez, who will be helping to run a masterclass session for Visually Impaired players and GB squad level players (level 1, 2, 3 junior and senior).

British Judo’s Kerry Tansey will be coaching alongside Steve Westlake of Bradley Stoke Judo Club and GB team coaches.

British Judo’s Dave Horton-Jones, will be running a session for coaches on how to work within the grading syllabus to grade players with disabilities.

Senior Special Needs Referee, Ron Cleere will be on hand to answer any questions and competition controllers, Jean Cleere and Andrew Scott will be advising on scoring and competition administration.

Sara Hayes, British Judo Board Member and Inclusion Commission Chair will also be available to discuss inclusion topics.

Last year’s inclusion day was the first session of its kind to be hosted at the British Judo Centre of Excellence and the event is set to continue successfully with this year’s packed agenda.

Few training days can match the passion and enjoyment shared at this event and with another great day on offer. All players with disabilities are encouraged to attend, as well as coaches who would like to find out more about judo for persons with disabilities.
