Gyaku-Juji-Jime
Step 1Place your fingers inside Uke’s collar. |
Step 2Cross over to take hold of the other collar with your fingers inside the lapel. |
Step 3Apply the strangle carefully using your arms in a scissors action, your thumbs should be outside the collar. |
Nami-Juji-Jime
Step 1Take hold of one collar with thumb inside the lapel. |
Step 2Cross over to take hold of the other collar with your thumbs inside the lapel. |
Step 3Apply the strangle carefully using your arms in a scissors action. |
Nami-Juji-Jime (Uke on top)
Step 1Both Nami-Juji-Jime and Gyaku-Juji-Jimi can be done from this position. First holding one lapel whilst controlling your partner. |
Step 2Pull your partner down toward you. |
Step 3Put the other hand on the other collar whilst controlling Uke by using your legs to push Uke out flat. |
Step 4Apply the strangle, Uke should submit by tapping the mat or any part of the body twice. |
Okuri-Eri-Jime
Step 1Reach under Uke’s neck to take hold of the far collar. With your other hand, reach under Uke’s armpit to take hold of the lapel. |
Step 2Apply the strangle carefully, Uke will submit by tapping on the arm. |
Okuri-Eri-Jime (When Uke attempts dropping attack)
Step 1Tori blocks Uke’s attack. |
Step 2Reach under Uke’s arm and grab hold of the collar, with the other hand reach under Uke’s neck taking the far collar. |
Step 3Roll to the side, controlling Uke with your feet and legs. |
Step 4Maintaining control of Uke, apply the strangle. |
Tomoe-Nage
Step 1Break Uke’s balance by taking a small step backwards and pulling Uke forwards. |
Step 2Place your right foot on Uke’s stomach and pull backwards. |
Step 3Use your foot on Uke’s stomach to direct Uke over your body also using your collar and sleeve grip. |
Step 4Straighten your leg to finish the throw keeping hold of Uke. |
Yoko-Tomoe-Nage
Step 1Pull Uke forward to break balance and place your foot slightly turned to the left on Uke’s stomach. |
Step 2Pull Uke towards your left side controlling the sleeve. |
Step 3Straighten your leg aiming to throw Uke to the side rather than over the top. |
