Meet our Inclusion, Safeguarding and Welfare Team: Online drop In Sessions
The British Judo Association have recently launched an important initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare and inclusivity within our clubs — the Inclusion, Safeguarding & Welfare Support (ISWS) Team.
Comprising dedicated professionals with expertise in various welfare aspects, the ISWS team is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members. Their primary goal is to provide guidance, resources, and support to both clubs and members.
To facilitate your introduction to the team, we have organised virtual sessions on Wednesday 27th September and 25th October 2023, running from 6pm until 7pm.
During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet the members of the Inclusion, Safeguarding & Welfare Support Team
- Gain insights into their roles and responsibilities within the Association.
- Discuss any initial concerns or questions you may have.
Register your interest here for these sessions.
To further strengthen our commitment, we are also introducing monthly clinics starting in November led by the Inclusion, Safeguarding & Welfare Support Team. These sessions will serve as a platform to:
1. Review Concerns: Address any concerns or issues related to welfare, inclusion, or safeguarding within clubs.
2. Policy Evaluation: Examine and, if necessary, update existing policies to ensure they align with the latest best practices and legal standards.
3. Promote a Safe Culture: Discuss strategies and initiatives to cultivate a culture of safety and inclusivity among our members.
Clubs should also be reminded that from 1st April 2024 it will be mandatory for all clubs with members under the age of 18 years to have a Club Welfare Officer (CWO). This extension, approved by the British Judo Board, will allow clubs more time to recruit a dedicated CWO.
Thank you for your commitment to the welfare of our clubs and members and we look forward to working together to create a safe and inclusive environment for all.
