Marc Longhurst Named as Welsh Judo Board Representative for BJA Board
British Judo are pleased to announce Marc Longhurst as the new Welsh Judo Board Representative onto the British Judo Board of Directors.
Current Welsh Judo Board Representative Fred Prosser attended his last British Judo Association Board Meeting on Tuesday 21 June after 8 years of service. Fred has been involved in judo for over sixty years and has been a fantastic ambassador for judo, fulfilling many roles including Welsh Judo Chair as well as being a player, coach, referee and administrator and we were delighted to be able to honour this contribution by awarding Fred with his 6th Dan at the Board Meeting.
Fred has also now retired from his post as the Welsh Judo Chair and we would like to thank him for his unwavering support over the years and wish him an enjoyable and relaxing retirement, although we fully expect to still see him at events!
Fred’s successor as Welsh Judo Chair and British Judo Association Welsh Judo Representative will be Marc Longhurst who will be formally welcomed at the next Board Meeting in August.
Marc has a long history with Judo having started as a novice with Neyland Judo Club over 30 years ago. He obtained his black belt at 15 and represented both Wales and Great Britain before a period focused on his professional career. Most recently, Marc was Head Coach at Maxim Judo Club and is the current Chairman for the Welsh Judo Association. Marc also holds a Level 2 Coaching Certificate.
Marc is an experienced strategy and transformation leader having held senior roles in international consultancy Faithful+Gould, and is currently Digital Development Director for Atkins (part of the SNC-Lavalin Group). He has a multi-disciplinary background with an undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering, MSc in Surveying and MBA.
