This weekend saw a return to training by Kingsley School Judo Team under the guidelines of their new outdoor bubble training sessions.
With the support of their coaching team, Kingsley School Judo Team were able to increase their groups to a total of 20 judoka, with a combination of age groups ranging from the youngest at 5, to the oldest at 15 years old. Creating 4 groups comprising of 5 judoka and 1 coach per team, while continuing to observe all government and social distancing rules, safely, using the schools Astro and Football pitch.
Simon Ward, Kingsley School Judo Team coach said: ‘It was very inspiring watching our team enjoying the chance to get together once again and training collectively in a new normal format.’
‘Our parents also welcomed the chance to get their children back to some familiarity again, as well as taking the chance to catch up themselves for the first time in many months.’
‘We split the judoka into 4 groups by age and had an assigned coach with each team. The camp was set across 4 pitches with a range of exercise circuits, including running, body weight circuit, speed & agility movement circuit and a judo specific bands and shadow uchi komi practice.’
Kingsley School Judo Team plan to continue developing these sessions and as they move towards the summer holidays and hope to include a second session exploring future ideas which will depend on a further relaxing of rules.
