Former GB judoka Kelly MacDonald (nee Edwards) is in the running for the British Olympic Assocation (BOA) Athletes’ Commission.

The BOA Athletes’ Commission is a Committee of the BOA Board created to bring the perspective and expertise of athletes to the many initiatives and programmes operated by the BOA.

Voting has opened for six members to join the Commission and Kelly is one of 21 former and current GB athletes to have put their name forward.

She fought at the London 2012 Olympics and was a silver medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Telford judoka was also a Grand Slam and Grand Prix medallist and fought at multiple World and European Championships.

She brings a wealth of experience having been a member of the GB team for 14 years and having been a member of the World-Class Performance Programme for a number of years.

“I am passionate about giving back to sport and to help other athletes, for whom I have so much respect. 

“I will work hard to ensure that I play an active part in understanding and raising awareness of athlete’s views and seek to improve the services and culture for Team GB athletes across all sports.”

Voting is open to current members of the TeamGB Gold club and Olympians who have competed since Turin 2006. All of whom should have receieved a unique voting link.
