Four next generation judo players showcased their skills during a demonstration at the SportsAid Yorkshire Showcase Dinner in 2014 along with Scunthorpe’s legendary Masters judoka Ian Johns at the Leeds City Hilton on Friday 7 March 2014.

As guests arrived to the glamorous drinks reception between 6:30pm and 7:30pm, aspiring 2020 Olympians performed their best moves on each other.

These included Hull sisters Molly Storey, (-52kg) who took bronze from the British Championships is in her last year as a cadet and Ellie Storey an up and coming cadet.

The siblings started judo at school before moving to Florida for two years where they continued their judo under a Cuban coach.

But now the pair are back in the country training in their native Hull and Molly is looking forward to performing in the English Open on Sunday at Ice Sheffield.

Meanwhile, Connor Potts current -50kg British Cadet Champion, who lives in York and trains at Goole will be fighting at -55kg at the English Open. The youngster combines his judo with college in York where he is studying Gamekeeping.

Another Hullonian Chris Skelley VI Junior World Champion competed, fresh from his bronze success at last weekend’s VI European Open where he beat a four time Paralympic champion on his way to the podium.

The black tie event featured a drinks reception was followed by a three course meal and more live sport and music and guests who were given a fantastic opportunity to hear from one of Yorkshire’s London 2012 starts, Olympic gold medal winning boxer, Luke Campbell MBE.

During the evening the event, sponsored by three Yorkshire-based companies businnesspeople came together to raise funds for Yorkshire’s stars of tomorrow, helping these talented athletes to continue on their journey to Rio 2016 and beyond.

Over the past 37 years, SportsAid has provided essential support to some of the countries sporting legends including Sebastian Coe and Jessica Ennis-Hill and Luke Campbell himself.
