Join The British Judo National Coaching Commission

British Judo are re-forming the National Coaching Commission under the chairmanship of former BJA Technical Director Colin McIver 9th Dan.

It is seeking applications for the Commission (and associated working groups) from BJA members interested in developing coaching and coaching education in the UK.

The work of the Commission is substantial and complex and considerable expertise in coach education and development is essential. The Commission’s main aims and terms of reference are detailed below.

Commission members must be able to contribute to the development of coaching and be prepared to make a significant time commitment to attend various meetings and do the necessary work that the role entails. Excellent IT and communication skills are an essential requirement.

BJA National Coaching Commission – Main Aims

To assist in the development and implementation of the Coach education and coaching related programmes as outlined in the BJA Strategic Plan 2022 to 2025 and detailed in the delivery plans.

Commission Terms of Reference

  1. To carry out the policies of the BJA and to maintain and promote membership of the BJA throughout the UK.
  2. To assist in the development and implementation of the BJA Coach education programmes and initiatives.
  3. To make reports and recommendations to the Board on policy and matter related to coaching.
  4. To assist in the recruitment, training and retention of Coaches and volunteers in line with the BJA policies and strategic direction.
  5. To consider, recommend and endorse the appointment of voluntary coaching related positions of each of the BJA National Associations and each of the England Areas following recommendations from both.
  6. To contribute to the development and promotion of the BJA technical programme.
  7. To be mindful of health and safety issues regarding the assessments for promotions.
  8. To work with the Performance Management Group to assist in the coaching and Coach development of elite Coaches.

Interested applicants should submit their CV outlining their judo experience and coaching background along with a cover letter detailing the areas where they feel they can contribute to the work of the Commission. Applicants must be prepared to attend an interview if required.
