Invitation to tender: British Judo to relaunch recreational judo programme

British Judo’s recreational judo programme is set to be relaunched with invitations to tender currently being accepted.

The Association has reviewed the opportunities within this market area and has identified increased exposure in the post-Olympic climate as an unprecedented opportunity to build a sustainable delivery environment for judo.

The concept is to employ a person or company who are currently successful in developing a commercially oriented recreational judo programme and roll this out over the next four years to drive up participation and generate income to the Association.

This would be a British Judo recreational judo offer designed to cater for the more informal judo participant, concentrating on core judo techniques and skills in a light fun and high quality environment. This non-competitive, fun recreational offer has a focus on acquisition providing an accessible and friendly route into the sport, whilst still providing a level of retention for those people who do not wish to commit to the full club/competitive judo environment.

The key objectives are to introduce judo to thousands of new young people and the BJA family and to ensure that the programme has a full offer that ensures retention in the sport and links to local judo clubs.

Additionally, the programme would be expected to build a sustainable delivery environment for judo and generate significant income for the BJA to re-invest in to the BJA Judo community.

The deadline for receipt of all tenders is 19 October 2012.
