The British Judo Association has been requested to assist with important research being undertaken by the University of Birmingham through the circulation of a survey to our membership who have a visual, hearing or physical impairment. We would kindly ask Judoka who have one or any combination of the impairments listed to consider responding to this survey for the benefit of all

I am contacting you to seek your support in relation to a new research project that English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is currently undertaking in partnership with the University of Birmingham.

In brief, this research project seeks to better understand the impact that the coach environment has on disabled people’s motivation to take part, and continued participation in sport. Ultimately, we hope that this research will inform the development of coach education and serve to improve and sustain sport experiences among disabled participants.

We are looking for disabled players and athletes who are 16 and over, currently play sport in a competitive environment and are coached in their sport. We would like participants to complete a questionnaire about their experiences in sport. The link to the online version of the questionnaire is https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GNB7SBH

Due to the complexity of some of the questions, we will not be including people with learning disabilities in this research. Participants must also be aged 16 or over.
