Gemma Howell claims World Cup gold for second consecutive week

Gemma Howell won World Cup gold for the second consecutive week on Saturday in Estonia having topped the medal rostrum in Romania a week ago.

The 21-year-old returned to action in May after a nine-month injury lay-off and has seamlessly negotiated a move up in weight category to -63kg as the two-time European u23 bronze medallist has claimed four medals in her first month back competing.

After marking her return with bronze at the IJF Baku Grand Prix, Gemma won the British Open before winning her maiden World Cup gold in Bucharest.

In Tallinn, Estonia, the in-form Briton was in clinical form as she won all four contests by ippon.

Gemma Gibbons, who now campaigns at -78kg, repeated her silver medal from Romania as she won two contests by ippon before losing in the final via the same score.

In Lisbon, Portugal, British Open winner Tom Davis continued to impress as he won four of his five fights to clinch bronze.

Nathon Burns won two contests and lost two to finish in seventh-place
