GB Veterans claim five medals at World Championships
The Abu Dhabi World Veterans Championships took place in Abu Dhabi last week.
A 22-strong GB Judo team travelled to the UAE capital city with the team winning five medals, including one gold, two silver and three bronze.
Natasha Glassford defended her World title in the -63kg category to become 3-time World Champion
Defending champion Danielle Batt gave a great account of herself in the -78kg category, but was unable to defend her title and had to settle for silver.
1984 Olympian, Nicholas Kokotaylo claimed silver in the +100kg category to add to the silver medal he won at the 2022 World Veteran Championships in Krakow. He finished ahead of compatriot Mark McCallum, who narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing 5th.
Former European Veteran Champion, Thomas Moyse, who was the older GB Judo competitor at the age of 73, claimed bronze in the -90kg category whilst former European Veteran bronze medallist, Emma Delaney also won bronze in the -70kg category.
Caroline Brayson, who finished 4th at the 2023 European Veteran Championships, claimed bronze in the -63kg in her World Championship debut
Elsewhere, there were 5th place finishes for Simon Twigg (-81kg), Ashley Parrette (-90kg), Lica Bogdan (+100kg) and Joseph Williams (+100kg). Whilst Mark Costiff (-60kg) and Peter Hoar (-81kg) finished 7th.
