A strong GB Judo Masters team will be looking to make their mark in Cancun at the 2018 Veteran World Championships from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 October.
At last year’s World Championships in Sardinia GB Judo took home 17 medals and the British judoka will want to continue a strong 2018 that saw GB win over 50 medals at the Veteran Europeans in Glasgow.
Joyce Malley and Kay Andrews both won gold last year and will be aiming to retain their titles in Cancun.
Malley retained her European title in Glasgow back in June and will want to continue her run of success at Veteran championships.
Debra Small also won gold in Glasgow and the British judoka last medalled at a Worlds back in 2015, winning bronze.
2017 World bronze medallists Fiona Chan, Caroline Rawlings, Samantha Chraniuk and Lesley Hutchins are also fighting in Cancun this week.
Chan and Chraniuk just missed out on gold in Glasgow and both fighters will be hoping for another medal rostrum finish in Mexico.
James Hornsby won gold in Glasgow and will be aiming to add a World title to his collection.
Colin Francis and Simon Childs both medalled in Glasgow winning silver and bronze respectively. Neither judoka have won a World Veterans medal in recent years and they will want to change that this week.
