GB Judo Performance Sport Science Conference

On Saturday 14 November the BJA High Performance Sports Science team and the University of Wolverhampton Institute of Sport team are delivering a day of presentations and the opportunity to get involved in a masterclass session for all British Judo coaches interested in developing their young and older judo players. Although they work primarily with performance they will discuss developing younger players to enable them to be independent in the transition from home to The Centre. Both parents and coaches are welcome and it is open to Non-BJA members who wish to learn more about High Performance and speak to members of the team.

• Ruth Barry – Performance Lifestyle Manager
Case studies of how Performance Lifestyle impacts on the athletes lives.
• Dr Chris Sellars Head of Sport and Physical Activity – Education/Course Support
Chris will discuss how they support the athletes who are also wishing to study at
the centre.
• Allan McDonald Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach
During this workshop Allan will look at developing the athlete from a S & C point
of view.
• Ross Cloak Laboratory Director & Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science – Sport Science Facility Tour
Ross will provide the opportunity for everyone to tour the Sport Science
laboratories used to support our athletes.
• Louise Bloor – Nutrition Workshop
During this workshop Louise will focus around nutrition and how this is used to
support the athletes.
