Following the Easter break we are back into competition mode. Whilst our European team have been at the British Judo National Training Centre this week preparing for next weeks European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, a number of fighters will be competing across Europe this weekend.

IBSA Antalya Grand Prix

Our VI team travel to Turkey to compete in the Antalya Grand Prix. Following the introduction of the revised weight categories, Antalya sees all fighters starting afresh as this marks the first competition which carries world ranking points.

Two medallists from the recent Egyptian Pyramids International Judo Championship will be in action. Gold medallist Jack Hodgson fights in the +90kg category whilst silver medallist Evan Molloy goes in the -90kgs.are in action. Completing the team is Connah Anders, who competes in the -73kg category.

Dubrovnik European Cup

23 GB Judo fighters will compete in Croatia at the Dubrovnik European Cup. David Ferguson, Neil MacDonald and Daniel Rabbit compete in the -60kg whilst Finlay Allan, Joshua Bell, Charlie Young and Henry Wakes compete in the -66kg.

Josef Lynch is the sole -73kg representative whilst Scott Cusack is joined by Thomas Mercer in the -81kg.

In the heavyweights, Jason Davies (-90kg), Cailin Calder (-100kg), Oliver Barratt (-100kg), Andrew McWatt (+100kg) and Jamie Williams (+100kg) are all in action.

Seven women make up the GB Judo squad with Ashleigh Barnikel (-48kg), Kimberly Renicks (-52kg) and Lalina Solley (-57kg) competing in the lightweights. Hazel Taylor and Sophie Clarke compete in the -70kgs whilst Rachel Tytler (-78kg) and Sarah Adlington (+78kg) are also in action.

Pozan Junior European Cup

7 GB Judo fighters will compete in Poland at the Pozan Junior European Cup.

Luke Caldwell and Adam Vosper compete in the -66kg category, whilst Billy Rodman (-73kg) and David Somerville (-81kg) are also in action. Leah Hasler (-48kg), Hannah Wood (-52kg) and Roxanne Proctor (-70kg) also compete.

Strasbourg Cadet European Cup

34 cadets have travelled to France for the Strasbourg Cadet European Cup.

Luke Davies, who recently won silver at the Teplice Cadet European Cup leads a 6-strong -73kg category, whilst Charlotte Jenman competes on the European circuit for the first time since her bronze medal at the Zagreb Cadet European Cup last month.
