Four in action in Tunisia
The first Olympic qualifier of 2016 sees four British judoka in action at the Tunis African Open on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January.
Kim Renicks (-48kg), Gregg Varey (-66kg) and Patrick Dawson (-73kg) are all in action on Saturday with Gary Hall (-90kg) taking to the mat on Sunday.
Renicks, off the back of regaining her National title in December, will be looking to gain valuable qualification points and is currently ranked 37th in Olympic qualifying.
Another 2015 National champion in Patrick Dawson last medalled at a Continental Open level in 2014 at the Sofia European Open and he will be hoping to bring that form on the mat in Tunisia.
Gregg Varey, who won silver at National Champs, came seventh on his last trip to an African Open in Casablanca last year and last medalled at the 2013 Buenos Aires PanAmerican Open.
Team Bath judoka Gary Hall will be bringing some solid form into the African Open having retained his National title before Christmas and having finished fifth in a strong -90kg field at the Glasgow European Open.
