Edge Judo and Harlow College join forces
Harlow College Judo Club have joined the British Judo Association after an exciting new partnership with Edge Judo saw them thrive in the post-Olympic climate.
Each student enrolling onto a Public Service programme of study has become become part of Harlow College Judo Club and has contributed wholeheartedly to this compulsory component of their studies.
Edge Judo’s Mark Conway, an EJU level five qualified coach and father of London 2012 Olympian Sally Conway, leads the judo training.
The course includes a wide range of subject areas such as government policies, citizenship, and teamwork and why fitness is important in the public services. Throughout the course students will complete a number of practical units which will challenge and develop both your fitness and outdoor activity skills.
British Judo’s Eastern Devleopment Officer Andrew Wilesmith said: “This programme demonstrates how quickly an initiative can develop when key partners work closely together. The ethos of the judo club has been designed to support students on the Public Services course to be able to experience something new; judo isn’t just about the physical aspect of the sport, although that is important. The discipline of judo will also give them lifelong skills such as commitment and respect.”
