The first four ever films made by Fighting Films – the British Opens of 1988, 1989 and 1990 and the Wolverhampton Masters 1990 – contain some of the most historic and nostalgic memories in judo. Only ever available on VHS, this is your first time to own all four classic titles on one DVD set.
Some of the finest judoka GB has ever produced take to the mat to put on a show for the home crowd, including World Champion and double Olympic Silver medallist Neil Adams, multiple World Champion Karen Briggs, Sharon Rendle, Diane Bell, Loretta Doyle, Denis Stewart, Kerrith Brown, Ray Stevens, Densign White and Elvis ‘the cat’ Gordon.
They are joined by some of the modern greats of world judo, including Robert van de Walle, Ingrid Berghmans and David Douillet.
The Opens include all the best highlights, sequences to music, as well as interviews with stars of the show.
The Wolverhampton Masters is one hour of non-stop action from four male-only weight categories. Broadcast on Sky Sports, the Masters launched Fighting Films into a new era of judo production. Action comes from an -65kg, -78kg and -95kg category. The flagship event is the Openweight where the middleweights pit their strengths against the likes of Stevens and Gordon.
