The last few weeks have been busy for the members of British Judo’s selected squad who include Commonwealth champions Ashley McKenzie, Colin Oates and Natalie Powell will be joined by Commonwealth medallists Sally Conway and Gemma Gibbons – who is also the London 2012 Olympic silver medallist.

Judo enjoyed fantastic success at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, showcasing the sport as a whole and took home scores of medals from across the home nations.

All of the squad members were whisked away to a warm weather preparation camp straight after the Games in Rio Major, Portugal where they were put through their paces. Now they are ready for the week ahead where they will undertake further training before a taper off period.

The International Judo Federation (IJF) World Championships is a chance to build upon the success of the Games and raise the profile even further.
