CASE STUDY | Medway Park Renews Clubmark Status
Medway Park recently completed its Clubmark renewal, maintaining its 8+ years of commitment to the scheme since Rainham Judo Club relocated to its new home at Medway Park in 2009.
Medway Park was one of only a few clubs awarded with the prestigious Gold level BJA Clubmark award which they successfully maintained throughout the duration of the programme. 
The British Judo Clubmark Award has been produced in line with Sport England’s Clubmark criteria and provides a framework for clubs focusing on key areas of development which are fundamental to creating and maintain quality, safe, effective and child friendly environments for young people in Judo.
In order to become Clubmark accredited, judo clubs are required to evidence within a portfolio set of minimum standards across the following areas:
- Coaches and volunteers
- Safeguarding
- Community development
- The playing programme

It has been helpful in both attracting new members and also in providing reduced-cost access to courses and development opportunities run by Kent County Council” John Malkinson, Medway Park Judo Club.
Medway Park currently runs ten sessions throughout the week on every weekday evening and Saturday mornings. The club has a permanent double-mat dojo within Medway Park Leisure Centre and caters for all ages and levels from grass-roots beginners and recreational players to national competitors. The club is friendly and inclusive, with mat fees starting from only £2.00.
