Calling all coaches – further your continuous professional development
There’s only a few days left to register for three British Judo Association courses, all aimed at helping you become the very best coach you can be, so why not sign up now.
Catering for the Novice Coach through to Level 1 and 2, these courses will be taught at Rochdale Judo Club on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July and are all aimed at enhancing coaches’ continuous professional development.
Each course is aimed at different goals, but essentially trains coaches in how to create a positive Judo experience from the moment clients walk through the door to the moment they leave.
On the morning of Saturday 20 July, BJA level one coaches who wish to gain a foothold on the grading ladder, and be equipped with the tools to promote their players from novice to 9 Mon, may join the Technical Grading 1 course between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
In the afternoon, more experienced level 2 coaches can join the Technical Grading Level 2 course which helps coaches grade up to 18th Mon between 2pm and 5.30pm.
Both courses will deliver the technical requirement of British Judo’s ‘Mon and Kyu Grading Syllabus, without which BJA Level coaches cannot grade players.
This course also helps coaches deal with new judo players, teaching them how to communicate and demonstrate techniques with the overall aim to make coaches more confident.
Last, but not least, a brand new course called Coaching for Novices will run on Sunday 21 July between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
This is aimed at helping new Judo coaches develop strategies and good practices to deal with and retain new members during the first few weeks of their judo experience.
Courses will be delivered by Kerry Tansey 5th Dan, BJA Technical Officer. “As coaches, our initial interaction with players when they walk into the judo club or school environment is crucial in growing the sport and maintains its good reputation,” said Kerry.
