The Cadet Futures Camp returns next month for the fifth edition with 25 GB Judoka (12 female, 13 male) and 4 HN coaches heading to Paris, France from 16^th – 22^nd October.

The camp, which started in 2016, returns following the covid pandemic and will be held outside of Japan for the first time since its creation.

Traditionally the team would head to the home of judo and train in iconic venues such as the Kodokan and Tokai University. However, due to covid restrictions still being high in Japan, and travel across the country and access to dojos and schools/universities not possible, the decision had been made to move the location to Paris, France.

Throughout the Cadet Futures Camp, the British judoka will have the opportunity to work on the fundamentals and technical aspects of their judo.

The Cadet Futures Camp is a key part of the GB/HN Cadet Strategy and is aligned to the Technical Development Framework. This focuses on helping the athletes to fight with effective technique which they can then transfer into senior competition.

Previous graduates from the Cadet Futures Camp have gone on to achieve success at Cadet, Junior and Senior international level including at European Opens, the IJF World Tour and most recently the Commonwealth Games.

Tim Ellis Head of Performance Operations said: “Although it is a shame we will not be heading to Japan, we are excited that Paris will provide the technical and physical training for both male and female cadet fighters. We will be able to visit some strong clubs and inspire the next generation with the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner.”

 “We have had loads of offers of support from coaches around Britain and thank you so much for the help to those that have offered. I really believe with the young fighters coming through and us all working together, we will have a bright future for judo in Great Britain.”

Fighters have been invited through their Home Nation Programmes with coaches: Jason Parsons, Sophie Cox, Gary Edwards and Stephen Abberley leading the camp in collaboration with GB Judo.
