Busy weekend for Cadets and Juniors
While the top senior athletes are out in Baku hoping to pick up valuable qualification points, Britain’s up and coming Cadet and Junior talent will be gaining important experience at competitions in South America and Europe.
Brazil International Teams Cups
A seven strong British Judo team will be competing at the Brazil Internationals Team Cup in Salvador from Friday 6 May to Sunday 8 May. Seven other countries in total will be competing including hosts Brazil, Japan, Russia, Georgia, Germany, Portugal and Italy.
Every member of the British team has medalled at either Junior or Senior European Cup level with Adam Hall (-100kg) selected as each team had to have one senior player
Competition start on Friday, from 2100 (GMT) where Great Britain will take on Japan in what is effectively the quarter-finals. The winners will compete in the semi-finals on Saturday from 1300 with the losers going into play-offs. Kaunas Junior European Cup
Over a dozen British Junior judoka will be stepping up on the tatami in Kaunas, Lithuania on 7-8 May. A strong Scottish contingent will be competing including the current British Junior champion Valentino Volante (+100kg) and Cailin Calder (-100kg) who placed fifth at the Coimbra Junior European Cup in March. Natasha Fraser (-57kg) will be looking to improve on her fifth and seventh place finishes at the Athens and Coimbra Junior European Cup as will Prisca Awiti-Alcaraz from Coimbra and Lignano.

Cluj Napoca Cadet European Cup
14 British Cadets will be hoping to pick up some big results at the Cluj Napoca Cadet European Cup in Romania on 7-8 May. Five of the team have picked up medals on the IJF Cadets World Tour with Chloe Nunn (-70kg) and Kelly Petersen (-70kg) the most recent medallists at the Teplice Cadet European Cup last month,
