Brits on the mat in Warsaw and Prague

Another weekend of Continental Open action sees British judoka competing at the Warsaw and Prague European Opens on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 February.

Kim Renicks (-48kg), Amy Livesey (-63kg) and Sarah Adlington (+78kg) will stepping on the mat in Warsaw with Renicks and Adlington both hoping to come away with valuable Rio qualification points. Livesey, off the back of a solid showing at the Paris Grand Slam, is looking for her first medal of 2016.

Over in Prague five more British judo players will be competing across the weekend with Gregg Varey (-66kg) aiming to pick up an important win.

Patrick Dawson (-73kg) continues his push to move up the rankings while Jan Gosiewski (-73kg) gets his 2016 underway ahead of a busy month of competitions.

Gary Hall is in action in the -90kg category after competing at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix while London 2012 Olympian James Austin (+100kg) makes a long-awaited return to international competition in his new weight category, having last competed in 2014 at the Madrid European Open.

In 2015 Philip Awiti-Alcaraz (-100kg) was the sole British medallist at the Warsaw European Open with bronze while Gemma Gibbons (-78kg) and Alice Schlesinger (-63kg) took home gold and silver respectively from the Prague European Open.
