British Judo Visually Impaired Team set for IBSA International Qualifier

British Judo have today announced the team for the IBSA Judo International Qualifier in Fort Wayne, USA from 30th June – 6th July.

Following his recent promotion to world number 1, current European Champion and World Championship bronze medallist, Chris Skelley (-100kg) spearheads a strong British Judo team making the trip to Indiana.

Skelley is joined by current World Championships bronze medallist, and world number 5, Elliot Stewart (-90kg) and world number 6 Jack Hodgson (+100kg).

Ahead of the Qualifier, British Judo Paralympic head coach, Ian Johns said: ‘It is a big month for visually impaired judo with the International Qualifier shortly followed by the European Championships in Italy at the end of July. Incidentally, we also have the IBSA Judo Grand Prix in Uzbekistan in September. These three competitions are imperative towards securing Paralympic qualification in Tokyo. The selected athletes have enjoyed a great start to the year and are all capable of placing highly and challenging for medals.’
