British Judo launches Periscope and Snapchat channels

British Judo launched new accounts on social media platforms Periscope and Snapchat at the recent launch of the Throw Yourself Into Judo campaign. The new accounts present new opportunities to connect with British Judo in a unique and immersive way.

British Judo was among the first of the National Governing Bodies in Britain to launch an account on Periscope – with British Judo’s first snaps and Periscope live stream at the launch of the new campaign, Throw Yourself Into Judo, last month.

The organisation’s first live stream through the Periscope app, featured members of the GB judo squad training with a group of youngsters at Europe’s oldest judo club, the Budokwai. The stream was watched live by 136 people.

British Judo’s Head of Marketing, PR and Communications, Tom Hills said: “Both Snapchat and Periscope present great opportunities for British Judo members and judoka worldwide to get exclusive and behind-the-scenes content from British Judo.

“We’ll be using both accounts to give followers behind-the-scenes access at the British Open 2015. We’ve got some exciting plans for fans to connect with us at the British Open so get following!”

Periscope is a new platform owned by micro-blogging giant, Twitter, which allows users to live-stream video from their smartphone to other users on almost any device. Users can engage with the video stream by posting comments and adding ‘hearts’.

Snapchat is a mobile app that allows users to send and receive ‘self-destructing’ photos and videos. Photos and videos taken with the app are called Snaps.

You can find British Judo on both Periscope and Snapchat with the username: britishjudo
