Davies was appointed Vice-President and member of the British Judo Council in November 2012. He became a member of British Judo in 1962 and served as Vice-Chairman for 11 years and as a Board Director for 18 years. During this period, he was also Chairman of the Finance Commission and Chairman of English Judo. Davies won his Black Belt at the Budokwai in 1968 in addition he served as Chairman of the Budokwai for 40 years. During this chairmanship, members of the Budokwai won 7 Olympic medals for GB. Outside of judo, Davies is a retired Chief Executive of a large group of health clubs and also a retired Senior Magistrate and Bench Chairman. He is currently Chairman of the British Judo Trust.
