British Judo Beyond The Mat
During the current lockdown period, a number of our British Judo fighters have used the time to develop their skillset further.
British Judo have a number of fighters completing their university studies alongside their training and competing, many of which are contining to do this during the lockdown period.
In addition to our university students, some of our fighters have chosen to enrol onto vocational courses. Double World Championship medallist, Nekoda Smythe-Davis has enrolled onto an accountancy course, and if you follow her on social media, you may have seen some of her make-up tutorials. Nekoda is also a brand ambassador for the Mintridge Foundation, and regularly helps to inspire youngsters to take up sport.
Jemima Yeats-Brown is one of our university students and has been using the lockdown period to further complete her university studies. However this, in addition to her training, is not enough to keep her busy as she has also enrolled onto a video editing course in addition to teaching PE classes for her local school.
Chris Skelley, who is a brand ambassador for Phoenix Enterprises, has been delivering food parcels to vulnerable members of his community, to help keep them safe at this difficult time.
Shelley Ludford is studying for a qualification in Travel and Tourism, as she hopes to work in this sector post judo. Shelley has also completed a workout video for you to try at home.
Evan Molloy, when not dancing around his living room to Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’, is studying for a Personal Training qualification.
Lulu Piovesana, while currently isolating in Austria, has taken the time away from training and her university sudies to learn a new language. She is currently studying German.
Stuart McWatt and Scott Thompson have been delivering online judo sessions to the members of Stuart’s home club Garioch Judo Club. While Scott has also started studying Engineering at the Open University ahead of his Motorsport Engineering course starting in September.
2020 Paris Grand Slam bronze medallist Gemma Howell recently completed a Workout Wednesday session for Team GB.
Our 2019 European Junior Champion, Kelly Petersen Pollard, is currently completing her university studies whilst training herself and her new puppy. Kelly has also completed a home workout for you to try.
