Berlin Test For Juniors

27 of Britain’s top Juniors are in action this weekend at the Berlin Junior European Cup on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July.

Berlin is one of the toughest events on the Junior World Tour and will provide a stern test for all involved.

British judoka picked up five medals in Berlin last year however only Lubjana Piovesana (-63kg) is back in 2016 and she will be looking to continue her impressive run of form which has seen her only lose one contest so far this year back in March in the Coimbra Junior European Cup.

Lele Nairne (-57kg) and Eric Ham (-73kg) both made strong returns from injury in Poland earlier in the month and will be hoping to bring that form to the mat once again.

Chelsie Giles (-52kg) and Acelya Toprak (-57kg) have both enjoyed good years so far with a number of medals to their name as has Rhys Thompson (-100kg) and with the Junior European Championships in September a good showing will bring confidence.

Women: -44, -48, -52, -57 kg and Men: -55, -60, -66, -73 kg will be in action on Saturday while Women: -63, -70, -78, +78 kg and Men: -81, -90, -100, +100 kg will be on the mat on Sunday.

Competition starts at 0900 GMT on both days with live coverage via eju.net. Follow @BritishJudo on Twitter for end of day result updates
