Bercy-Paris Arena ready to welcome the judo world for the 2015 Paris Grand Slam
The prestigious Paris Grand Slam will take place this weekend, on the 17th and 18th of October. The world famous tournament usually takes place in February, but due to the renovation of the Bercy-Paris Stadium, the event has been postponed up to now. The competition will offer 500 Olympic qualification points for all gold medallists.
Nine British players will be aiming to top up their Olympic qualification points in the French capital. On the first day, Ashley MCKENZIE (-60kg) will enjoy a free first round and will face the of the contest between Damien ZIADE (LIB) and Sofiane MILOUS (FRA).
Colin OATES (-66kg) enjoys being in seeding position in Paris, which also allows him to have a free first round too. In the second round Oates will face either Jayme MATA (ARU) or ZAMBORI Bence (HUN).
Nekoda Davis (-57kg) will start off by facing Sabrina FILZMOSER (AUT), whilst Alice SCHLESINGER (-63kg) will battle out the first contest against Corina CAPRIORIU (ROU). London 2012 silver medalist Caprioriu, normally competes at the -57kg weight divison, however for this weekend in Paris the Romanian has moved up to the 63kg category.
