BAKU 2015 – DAY 2: Meet our team
Five of our athletes will be looking to become the first ever European Games winner at the Heyday Aliyev Arena on the second day of the 2015 Baku European Games.
2015 Dusseldorf Grand Prix winner, Alice SCHLESINGER will be facing Anna BERNHOLM (SWE) in her first contest. The pair have faced each other once before, where Schlesinger came out on top. Also in the -63kg category, Gemma HOWELL will be up against Hilde DREXLER (AUT) in the first round.
In the -70kg category, Megan Fletcher and Sally Conway will battle amongst the 29 competitors who all aiming for the podium spot. 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games Champion, Megan FLETCHER will have 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam bronze medalist Katarzyna KLYS (POL) as the first match of the day. The last time Sally CONWAY visited the capital of Azerbaijan, only few weeks ago at the Baku Grand Slam, she was able to return with golden memories. For a repeat of her successful trip to Baku, Conway will have to first defeat Aleksandra SAMARDZIC (BIH).
A total of 39 judoka will be going for gold in the -81kg category, where double 2015 Pan-American Open gold medalist and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games Champion, Owen LIVESEY will be aiming to be amongst the medals. His first challenge will be against Srdjan MRVALJEVIC (MNE).
