All set for European U23 Championships

The European U23 Championships get underway in Potsdam, Germany tomorrow. Six GB judoka will be in action over the next two days.

Friday 17th November – Preliminary Rounds 9:00am | Final Block 15:00

In the -66kg category Finlay Allan (Camberley JC; Luke Preston) has an opening round bye before facing the victor of the opening round contest against Primoz Jug (SLO) and Aydin Rzayev (AZE).

Two GB judoka will be in action on the -73kg category. Ethan Nairne (Bradley Stoke; Pete Douglas) has an opening round bye before facing Zelemkhan Batchaev (BEL) in round two. Oliver Short (Edinburgh Judo; Billy Cusack) also has an opening-round bye and will face the winner of the opening-round contest against David Kijevic (LTU) and John Waizenegger (SUI).

In the -52kg category, Tatum Keen (Bradley Stoke; Pete Douglas) will face Melaniia Vodianna (UKR) in round two, following an opening round bye. Sian Bobrowska (Hardy Spicer; Fitzroy Davies), also has an opening round bye before facing Roza Gyertyas (HUN) in round two.

Saturday 18th November – Preliminary Rounds 9:30am | Final Block 15:00

Oliver Barratt (Dragons Judo Academy; Stephen Abberley) is the sole GB judo competitor on the final day of competition. Barratt has an opening round bye and will face the winner of the opening-round contest between Erekle Bazierishvili (GEO) and Francesco Basso (ITA).

Archi Shrimpton has also been selected to referee at the Championships whilst Charlie Young (Ryecroft Judokwai; Paul Young) has withdrawn due to injury.
