Applications now open for 1st4Sport Level 3 in coaching Judo

The British Judo Association are pleased to announce that the application process for this year’s 1st 4Sport Level 3 in Coaching Judo (formerly UKCC) is now open. The course will take place at SKK Judo Club, Newton-le-Willows on the dates below, some modules may be delivered online in between blocks.

The 1st4sport Award looks at developing coaches who wish to improve their coaching skills regardless of the participant groups they coach. The programme focuses on a holistic approach that will explore the competitive, technical, tactical, physical and psychological as they apply to the lifestyle needs of the judoka.

If you are already a qualified UKCC Level 2 coach and are looking to develop your knowledge and skills to deliver a holistic training programme at your club, then this is the course for you. The course is usually priced at £1000, but British Judo is providing a subsidy for all candidates. For BJA members, the cost of the course is £500 whilst for non-BJA members, the course is priced at £600.

BJA coaches may get help with funding and they should contact their local BJA Regional Support/Club Officer for advice.

Dates:
17th – 18th June 2023
8th – 9th July 2023
7th – 8th October 2023

What do you need before you can sign up?

  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Be a current member of the British Judo Association to benefit from the discount
  • Hold a minimum British Judo Association 1st Dan Grade
  • It is recommended that candidates hold a UKCC Level 2 coaching award
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a UKCC Level 3 coaching award and will be equipped to deliver: Coach all levels of judo activity, Grade up to and including 18th Mon and 1st Kyu, Open and run a judo club, Insured to act as referee, tournament director/technical official for Level 1 judo competitions and obtain matside accreditation for competitions.
