British Judo Statement: Queen Elizabeth II
Everyone connected with British Judo joins the wider sporting family in sending our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Majesty The King and the Royal Family following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Upcoming competitions this weekend are due to go ahead as planned under the discretion of the Tournament Directors, however, this may be superseded by an expected communication from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) due later today (9th September).
For any competitions that do take place this weekend, all in attendance will be asked to observe a two-minute silence which will be followed by the National Anthem.
The Heart of England has confirmed that they currently plan to go ahead and will ensure that they respectfully acknowledge the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
GB Judo has a number of judoka competing at the Riccione European Open this weekend. A preview of the event and links of where to watch will be published on Saturday (10th September) morning. British Judo will not be running its usual event coverage and will instead publish a full round-up of the results on Monday morning.
