Two British Judo Coaches selected for prestigious UK Coaching Elevate Coaching Programme

UK Coaching have revealed the names of the coaches selected for the Elevate Coaching Programme.

Laura Scarlett-McAllister (Oxford Judo) and Nicki Harris (Newbury JC) will join the programme aimed to provide learning and development experiences for female coaches aspiring to progress within their sports performance pathway into high-performance roles.

The programme offers opportunities to observe coaches in high-performance environments and to connect and network with other like-minded coaches. Through workshops and webinars, coaches will explore ways to extend their role, their profile and the impact they can have.

UK Coaching will be working closely with each coach and their sport to personalise the learning experiences for each participant, with the main focus being on leadership and coaching in a performance pathway.

20 coaches from 15 sports will complete the six-month programme from September 2022 to February 2023.

Emily Handyside, UK Coaching Coach Programme and Pathway Manager, said: “UK Coaching is determined to see greater diversity across the coaching workforce. It is amazing to support an inspiring group of female coaches working in performance pathways. Each participant will learn from each other and be a role model for the next generation of coaches. Thank you to UK Sport, who have made this programme possible for coaches in Olympic and Paralympic sports areas.”

UK Sport and UK Coaching are working in partnership to increase the representation of female coaches in performance pathways.
