British Judo’s John Bramall and Scotland’s Susan Wright were the big winners at this years British Judo Awards winning the President’s Award and Roy Inman Award respectively.

John was awarded the President’s Award after dedicating the last 25 years living and breathing the British Judo values. He sets himself exceptionally high standards, which are recognised at both a national and International level.

He is in fact British Judo’s longest serving employee, joining straight from school in 1994.

He is regarded as the number one logistics manager for the quality of his work in not only World Judo, but British sport. His work is acknowledged by the International Judo Federation and the European Judo Union, and he is highly regarded by the British Olympic Association as well as UK Sport.

He is reliable, honest, trustworthy and the consummate professional.

He is our Mr Judo.

Our Roy Inman Award winner, Susan, has been involved in judo for the past 40 years and has experienced the wider spectrum of the sport in many roles. She had a promising competitive career that saw her medalling at many Scottish and British Championships over the years, but a knee injury curtailed her progress and forced her to retire. This did not stop her though as, alongside her husband set up Clyde Judo Club. Over the years, it has seen its membership grow to over 50 members winning a multitude of medals along the way! Commonwealth titles, Schools titles and British Championships, there is no stopping them. Personally, she has overcome a life threatening illness but her passion for judo did not wain as she continued to fight the battles on the mat as well as off the mat. She continued to volunteer throughout her treatment cycle taking on roles such as Competition Controller, sitting on the Board of Judo Scotland and combining this time as a Talent Development Coach at JudoScotland.
