Fifteen Brits ready to take on Jeju Grand Prix

Fifteen British judoka will be back in action at the second Grand Prix of the Asia tour, again in search of medals and Rio Olympic qualification points. This weekend will see action from Korea at the Jeju Grand Prix from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 November.

Four British judoka step on the mat on the opening day with Kimberley Renicks (-48kg) aiming to improve on her first round defeat in China as she takes on Andrea Gomez (VEN) while Nekoda Davis will be looking to get back on the podium as she faces the winner of Anny Pandini (INA) and Johanna Mueller (GER).

Ashley McKenzie (-60kg) takes on another Venezuelan Javier Guedez in his first contest while Colin Oatest returns from injury that kept him out of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam as he takes on either Glasgow European Open champion Kilian Le Blouch (FRA) or Moohammad Syaiful Raharjo (INA) in the second round.

Friday 27 sees six more British judo players in action with Megan Fletcher and Sally Conway both in fighting in the -70kg category. Fletcher is in a decent run of form and faces Irina Gazieva (RUS) in the first round while Conway has the winner of Yun-Ting Chen (TPE) and Iana Kriukova (RUS).

Alice Schlesinger (-63kg) will be up against Andreja Dakovic (CRO) as she looks to continue her solid post-World Championships form.

Danny Williams and Patrick Dawson have both secured byes to the -73kg second round with Williams set to face Sami Chouchi (BEL) while Dawson has the winner of Baku Grand Slam bronze medallist Zelimkhan Ozdoev (RUS) and Damian Szwarnowiecki (POL).

Glasgow European Open gold medallist Owen Livesey will hope to finish the year on a high as he faces Suk Woong Hong (KOR) in the second round.

Gemma Gibbons (-78kg) has enjoyed a strong second half to 2015 and steps on the mat on Saturday 28 for a first round match-up with Tiara Artha Garthia (INA) while Sarah Adlington (+78kg) continues a busy end to the year as she faces Da-Eun Park (KOR).

In the -90kg Andy Burns takes on World Number 7 Kirill Denisov (RUS) in the second round while Frazer Chamberlain has the experienced Karolis Bauza (LTU) in his first fight. Philip Awiti-Alcaraz (-100kg) rounds off the British competitors as he faces Georgian Aleksandre Mskhaladze.
